Types are the framework that allows ECL to store highly ordered information on a wide variety of topics, from physical samples, containers, and instruments to experimental protocols, data, and simulations. Each Type has its own ontology that defines exactly what pieces of information it can store, how that information is structured, and how it is linked to information in other Types.
